Nova Scotia Winter Activities – Public Skating in Digby

Looking for a way to spend time with your family & friends this winter? All are welcome to join in the fun at the Digby Area Arena during their FREE public skating hours!

If you do not have skates or a helmet, no need to worry… the Digby Area Arena offers a skate and helmet exchange programs! All we need is you!

Skate times are listed below:

Effective October 17, 2011
Wednesdays – Student Skate – 2:30pm-3:30pm
Fridays – Parent & Tot Skate – 11:00am-12:00pm
Fridays – Adult Skate – 12:00pm-1:00pm
Saturdays – Open Skate – 2:30pm-3:30pm
Saturdays – Adult – 3:30pm-4:30pm
Sundays – Open Skate – 5:00pm-6:00pm

Nova Scotia Seafood Recipe Perfect for the Holidays

‘Tis the season for hosting friends, family and co-workers for Holiday and seasonal get-togethers. Here is a great Nova Scotia food recipe featuring Bay of Fundy Scallops and Farmers Dairy that will wow and amaze your guests! With Digby Scallops, delicious cheese and fresh seasonings, this will be the best gift you can give this season.

Digby Scallops with Emmental Cheese

Ingredients:

  • 3 lbs medium size scallops
  • ¾ cup grated Emmental cheese
  • 1 tsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tsp parsley, chopped
  • 1 thinly sliced green onion
  • 2 oz flour
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp butter
  • 3 cups Cooked long grain rice
  • ¾ cup Farmers 2% milk
  • 1 oz Flour
  • Seasoning to taste

Instructions:

  1. Melt butter in sauce pan and sauté scallops with minced clove of garlic, remove from pan when cooked.
  2. Add flour and stir in Farmers 2% Milk, simmer for 2 minutes. Add thinly sliced green onions, parsley and dill.
  3. At the last minute add 3/4 cup of Emmental cheese, the cooked scallops and season to taste. Serve on top of cooked long grain rice
